1bench, modern Amazon RDS GUI client

Amazon RDSAmazon RDS GUI client

Browse RDS for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB instances, run SQL, and edit rows from a native desktop app. Connect over verified TLS, through an SSH bastion, or with IAM database authentication.

Apple Silicon. Also available for Free 7-day trial. No sign-up, no credit card.

Your data stays yours

1bench runs entirely on your machine. Nothing is ever sent to us.

Keychain Encrypted

Saved passwords and AWS access keys are encrypted with your OS keychain.

No Stored AWS Secrets

IAM tokens and Secrets Manager passwords are fetched per connection and never saved.

Zero Telemetry

No usage tracking, no query logging, no analytics. Queries go straight to your database.

Built for Amazon RDS

1

PostgreSQL, MySQL & MariaDB

Pick the engine in one connection form. Tables, views, the SQL editor, and inline editing work the same way on all three RDS engines, with each engine's own types.

2

IAM Database Authentication

Log in with an AWS profile, an IAM Identity Center session, or access keys. 1bench signs a fresh token per connection and never saves a database password.

3

Verified TLS Out of the Box

Amazon's RDS certificate bundle ships inside the app, so Verify Full works on the first connect. No PEM files to download and no certificate paths to set.

4

Private Instances Through SSH

Reach instances in a private subnet through an EC2 bastion. TLS checks and IAM tokens still target the real RDS endpoint, so both keep working through the tunnel.

5

Clear Connection Errors

A wrong region, a missing IAM grant, or a custom DNS name that fails the certificate check each comes back with a plain note on what to fix.

6

Full Database Hierarchy

Browse every database and schema on the instance in one tree. Amazon's internal rdsadmin database stays hidden, since the master user cannot open it anyway.

10x your Amazon RDS productivity

Stop switching between CLI and code. Manage everything visually.

SQL Query Execution

Write and run SQL queries with syntax highlighting. View results instantly in a sortable, paginated table.

Inline Data Editing

Click any cell to edit its value directly. Stage multiple changes across rows and save them all at once.

Row Insertion

Insert new rows through a clean visual form. Skip writing INSERT statements by hand every single time.

Schema Inspector

View column types, nullable flags, default values, primary keys, and constraints for any selected table.

Create Tables & Indexes

Build tables, keys, and indexes in a visual form and review the generated SQL before it runs on RDS.

Server Overview

See the engine version, uptime, open connections, and database sizes as soon as you connect to an instance.

AWS SSO Sign-In

Sign in to IAM Identity Center from inside the app, or reuse the session that aws sso login already cached.

SSH Tunnels

Connect to private RDS instances securely through an SSH bastion. Reach VPC-only endpoints with ease.

Read-Only Mode

Toggle read-only mode to safely browse production databases. Eliminate any risk of accidental writes.

Production Safe

Confirmation dialogs guard all destructive operations. Always review before executing DROP or TRUNCATE.

Export & Import

Export full tables or filtered query results as CSV or JSON files. Import data from files just as easily.

Query History

Every query you run is saved automatically per connection. Search, re-run, or favorite past queries anytime.

Multiple Tabs

Work across multiple databases and connections in parallel using a clean and intuitive tabbed interface.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Navigate between tables, run queries, and switch tabs entirely from the keyboard. No mouse required.

Dark & Light Mode

Choose between polished dark and light themes. Matches your system preference or set it on your own.

Amazon RDS GUI FAQ

What is an Amazon RDS GUI?
An Amazon RDS GUI is a visual desktop client that lets you browse databases and tables, run SQL, and edit rows on an RDS instance without using psql or the mysql command line. 1bench is a modern RDS GUI for Mac, Windows, and Linux, and works with RDS for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB.
Does Amazon RDS have a GUI?
The RDS console creates, sizes, and backs up instances, but it has no way to browse tables or run SQL against a regular RDS instance. Its query editor only works with Aurora clusters. For a visual interface to the data itself, you install a desktop RDS GUI like 1bench, which runs natively on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
What is the best Amazon RDS GUI for Mac, Windows, or Linux?
A good RDS GUI should run natively on your OS, verify TLS against Amazon's RDS certificates, support IAM database authentication, and reach private instances through an SSH bastion. It should also cover every engine you run. 1bench delivers all of this with a single download for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
How do I connect to an RDS instance from my local machine?
Copy the endpoint and port from the Connectivity & security tab in the RDS console. For a direct connection, the instance must be publicly accessible and its security group must allow your IP on the port (5432 for PostgreSQL, 3306 for MySQL and MariaDB). For a private instance, connect through an SSH tunnel to an EC2 instance in the same VPC. In 1bench, pick RDS, choose the engine, and paste the endpoint.
How does IAM database authentication work on RDS?
Instead of a password, the client signs a 15-minute token with your AWS credentials and RDS checks it against IAM. Turn on IAM database authentication for the instance, then grant the rds_iam role on PostgreSQL, or create the user with the AWSAuthenticationPlugin on MySQL and MariaDB. 1bench signs a fresh token for every new connection, so long sessions never hit an expired token.
